Note: You can give your own touch and can change the plan if you have some other destinations in your mind which you want to visit.

Itinerary For Kerala For 03 Nights & 04 Days

Note: The best way to reach Kerala is by Cochin. There are numerous flights, trains, and buses which travel to Cochin / Kochi.

Day 01: Reach Cochin by early morning and leave for Munnar. En-route enjoy some waterfalls and scenic spots. Reach Munnar by afternoon and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 02: Today is the day, where you will go and visit places in and around Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03: On day three, I would suggest you go to Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park where one can see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr or the wild goat.  Enjoy the safari and return back or Munnar by evening.

Day 04: So this is the last day of your 03 nights & 04 days Kerala itinerary or plan. And today check out from the hotel and go back to Kochi. If you have some time in hand then visit nearby places in Kochi and then take your flight back to your next destination.

Kerala Itinerary For 04 Nights & 05 Days
Kochi Fishing Nets

Day 01: So today is the first day of your Kerala plan and the best way to start the trip is to go to Munnar from Kochi. So arrive at Kochi and either take a bus or cab to Munnar and stay there.

Day 02: Today is the day for some sight-seeing. So visit places in and around Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar

Day 03: Wake up early morning and leave for Alleppey.  Reach Alleppey and check in to a house boat. Enjoy the beautiful backwaters of Alleppey. Overnight stay at house boat.

Day 04: Today leave early morning and drive to Kochi. If you have some time in hand visit Alleppey beach.  You may even go for a day of sightseeing today in Kochi. Overnight stay at Kochi.

Day 05: Plan your day as you wish as today is the last day of your Kerala itinerary / trip. So take some time and go for some souvenir shopping.

Itinerary For Kerala For 05 Nights & 06 Days
Munnar Kerala

Day 01: Arrive at Kochi and transfer to Munnar. Go for some shopping and take rest for the rest of the day. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 02: Spend the day by doing some sightseeing and shopping in Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03: Leave early morning for Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park and by evening return back to Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar

Day 04: Today leave early morning for Kumarakom & spend a leisure day at Kumarakom. It is known for its Ayurvedic spas, houseboat rides, and Kathakali Dance performance. You may even go for street shopping. Overnight stay at Kumarakom.

Day 05: Today leave early morning and visit Alleppey beach. You may even go for a kayak session in the backwaters of Alleppey. Overnight stay at Kumarakom.

Day 06: Today is the last day in your 05 nights & 06 days itinerary of Kerala trip, so try to  leave early morning and drive to Kochi. If you have some time in hand then you may even go for a day of sightseeing today in Kochi or some souvenir shopping.

Kerala India itinerary 06 Nights & 07 Days
Munnar tea plantation

Day 01: Arrive at Kochi and leave for Munnar. Arrive at Munnar by afternoon and rest is a leisure day for you. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 02: A day for some sightseeing in Munnar. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03: Leave early morning for Thekkady which is only 96 kms from Munnar. Here in Thekkady, you can go for Bamboo rafting, visit Thekkady lake or can go for a safari to Periyar Wild life sanctuary. Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 04: On the fourth day of your Kerala itinerary or trip, today you will visit Alleppey. Leave early morning for Alleppey.  Reach Alleppey by afternoon and rest is a leisure day for you. Overnight stay in Alleppey.

Day 05: Visit Alleppey beach and go for a day cruise to Kumarakom on Houseboats.  Reach your hotel by evening and overnight stay in Alleppey.

Day 06: Go for some Kayak trips in the backwater of Kerala and if feeling tired try out the famous Ayurvedic Spas in Alleppey. Overnight stay in Alleppey.

Day 07: So finally here is your last day of your Kerala trip. Leave for Kochi and if you have time, go for some sightseeing and souvenir shopping.

So here was the best itinerary for Kerala which I think would best suit tourists who are travelling with family and friends. However, I have also mentioned some other details below like travel time, public transport availability and how to travel for travellers who are travelling solo.

Kochi to Munnar

  • Ernakulam Bus Depot is the place where you will get your bus for Munnar. It is located around 40 kms from Kochi Airport and just adjacent to Ernakulam Railway Station.
  • There is a bus service which is available from Kochi Airport to Ernakulam.
  • If you are planning to reach Munnar by bus then there are lots of buses which starts from Ernakulam Bus stand.
  • The KSRTC buses runs from Ernakulam bus stand whereas privately run buses starts from Vytilla mobility hub which is 15mins away from Ernakulam Railway station.

  • By bus it takes around 05 – 06 hours to reach Munnar depending on the traffic conditions.
  • You may even book a can from Airport or Ernakulam for Munnar which will cost you around 2000 – 3,000 INR depending on the season you are visiting.
  • Ola cabs are available in Kochi so if you want to use it, you can book a Ola Outstation cab and can cover the distance.
  • If you take a cab then you may visit to Kodanadu elephant care centre, Spice plantations, Valara waterfalls, Cheyyara waterfalls, Attukadu waterfalls, etc.

Munnar Sightseeing

Local sightseeing of Munnar includes Mattupetty Lake & dam, Pothamedu, Vattavada, Attukal , Nyayamaka, Meesapulimala. All these above mentioned places are beautiful to its core but you cannot do it in a single day. So try and choose the places which excite you the most.
However, for adventure enthusiasts, they may also try rock climbing and trekking.

Munnar Sightseeing Cost

Munnar one day sight-seeing: 120 – 150 kms
Approx taxi fare: 12 – 13 Rs / Km.

Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park

  • Private vehicles are not allowed inside the park and the only way to explore the park is by foot.
  • Safaris are available but only to certain regions inside the park.
  • Safari timings starts from 0 8.30 am to 04.00 pm
  • Entry fees:
    Indians (adult): 15 INR
    Kids below 12: 5INR
    Foreign Nationals: 200 INR
    Camera: 25 INR

Eravikulam National Park is only 15 kms from Munnar and the best way to reach is by booking a taxi from Munnar.

Munnar To Alleppey

  • There are lots of KSRTC buses which runs from Munnar to Alleppey.
  • The first from Munnar is at 6.30 am

  • Total distance: 175 kms
  • Travel time: 05 – 06 hrs

Alleppey House Boats

There are two types of cruise timings which you will get.

  • Option 1:
    Cruise Type: Day cruise (04 – 05 hours)
    Price: 5000 – 6000 INR
    Timings: 11 am to 5 pm
    Inclusions: Lunch with Tea & Snacks
    Note: Rate for day cruises vary for 750 INR / hour for a standard houseboat to 1,500 INR for a luxury houseboat.
  • Options 02:
    Cruise Type: Full day cruise (20 hrs)
    Price: 10,000 – 20,000
    Timings: 12 pm – 9 am
    Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  • For budget or standard houseboats you may search for:

  • And always try avoid booking through agents and portals. As they charge a handsome commission for themselves.

Munnar To Kumarakom

There are two ways to reach Kumarakom from Munnar.

  • One is by booking a taxi which will cost you around 2,500 – 3,000 INR
  • Or take a public bus. Public transport in Kerala is very efficient. However as far I have seen, there are no direct buses from Munnar to Kumarakom. From Munnar, first, you have to reach Kottayam and from Kottayam, you will get a bus to Kumarakom.
  • Total distance: 157 kms
  • Travel Time: 05 – 06 Hrs

Alleppey To Kochi

If you are planning to reach Kochi from Alleppey by bus or public transport then the best way is to take a government-run buses or KSRTC Bus. There are lots of buses which ply between Alleppey bus depot to Vytila junction in Kochi.
